It has been a beautiful day, all around. Fun people through the cafe- my old friend Trish dropped by that I haven’t seen in a while… all around good things are in the air. I know things are hard for most of us these days; it seems like less has to stretch into more and sometimes the end of the road is too far off to see. I know this time of year can be even more challenging- the sun drops down too quickly, money seems even tighter than normal, expectations run high, and all around it just seems harder. This is why I would encourage all of us to look for the little things in each day that are beautiful and bring you joy. Here is a video I stumbled upon- maybe you’ve seen it already, but I really liked it. It is an advertisement, but one I don’t mind watching.

What a month! Despite my best intentions, I have already fallen behind on this blog… my apologies!

So, here is what’s been going on: Much of the same; making a ton of coffee and hanging with the usual suspects… this month however, has had some additional elements. We received a wonderful write up in Your Hub, (part of The Denver Post) where we talk a bit about the cafe (Click here to read the article ) , and then we were also featured on Fox 31 News which was great since we were able to talk a little about my recent adventure in television with the Burger King Commercial.

On top of all of this, 9 News followed Erik Isaac and myself around for a night and will be doing a story on our art-oriented talk show The Untitled Art Show. Talk about a crazy month! I feel like there is always a camera around and maybe I should watch my language a little more… nothing wrong with a little colorful conversation, but I suppose kids watch those shows…

A recent appearance on Denver’s Fox 31.

As always seems to occur, it is yet again the week of First Friday. For those of you who are not familiar with this event, it is an art extravaganza that occurs on (surprise!) the first Friday of every month- year round.

This is an event that I view with some mixed emotions; it is wild and loud and we are completely slammed for most of the night, sales are good which is never a bad thing, the energy is really high, and people seem to really enjoy themselves. It is also a lot of work and sometimes feels like the farthest our little shop gets from its roots as a quiet neighborhood café where everyone knows everyone and conversation takes precedence over all things frenetic. One thing I do love about the night is that it has its’ own breed of regular who comes in once a month religiously. This is a fun change up from the people I see everyday since they always have new stories and such.

As in all things, balance is so important… I suppose the craziness of this night is good balance for the remainder of the month. At any rate, come check it out and see for yourself.

Also, rumor has it that the current edition of 5280 Magazine did a feature on us- I have not read it yet, so hopefully it says all nice things. : )
